 particularly worthy of protection

the duke's treasures

Hotspots of diversity

No duke has lived in the Duchy of Lauenburg for a long time. But the treasury is still richly filled: special features, unique characteristics, peculiarities – in short, ‘ducal treasures’.

The clattering of cranes on the Oldenburg Wall, the wild beauty of the Wakenitz, the realm of sea eagles on Lake Schaalsee, or the flora and fauna that has reclaimed its territory in the shadow of the former inner-German border. We are opening our treasure chamber!

‘Duke's Treasures’ lead to places in nature that are one of a kind and therefore particularly worthy of protection. They once belonged to the Duke, but today they are our shared natural heritage. We therefore urge you to behave respectfully and considerately when entering our treasure chamber.
