General

Nestled in the hilly landscape in the south of Schleswig-Holstein lies the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park in the Duchy of Lauenburg. Glaciers and the sea were the architects of the hilly terminal moraine landscape around Ratzeburg and Mölln. The nature park tour, signposted with an eagle symbol, follows the traces of these witnesses of the last ice age on a circular tour of approx. 38 kilometres.

Directions

Forest and water are the defining elements on the bike tour and act as a balm for body, mind and soul. A well-developed and signposted network leads you through meadows, fields and avenues to the shores of various lakes. In Ratzeburg, the Ratzeburg Cathedral and the museums of Ernst Barlach, A. Paul Weber and the District Museum invite you to visit. The route continues through Behlendorfer Forst and Bartelsbusch through species-rich deciduous forests, tarns and alder quarries are relics of the last Ice Age along this route. From the Lankau Youth Forest Home, the trail continues to Anker along the eastern bank of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. There are two regularly occupied stork nests in the Anker area. Take a detour to Mölln and visit the medieval market square, St. Nicolai's Church and the Till Eulenspiegel Museum. You will continue past the Salem Moor nature reserve, where you can climb an observation tower and enjoy a magnificent view over the mystical moorland. Directly on the way back to Ratzeburg, which takes you via the Dorotheenhofer Weg, lies the Ruschensee lake, which invites you to take a break.
