Hike on the Zecher Werder

The approximately 5 km long circular trail starts at the von Witzendorf family estate. The hiking trail begins just behind the carriage barn and leads past wet meadows with marsh marigolds to the northern tip of the Werder. Large areas are protected, not only because of the inhabitants such as white-tailed eagles, cranes, and bitterns, but also because nature takes precedence over humans here. This is because we are in the heart of the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park and thus in one of the core zones of the protected area. The tour leads through the rustic beech forest, offering great views of Lake Schaal and the opposite shore. Seating areas invite you to linger. Across the colorful fallow land and past the Sandkuhle, the route takes you past the Waldsofa information point and back to the Kutscherscheune, where coffee and cake await you with a view of Lake Schaalsee. But you are also welcome to visit the excellent fish restaurant “Maräne”.
