The observation tower at Lake Mechow is located on the northwest shore and can be reached from Mechow. It offers a magnificent view over the glacial ribbon lake. For waterfowl, Lake Mechow is a paradise, home to numerous species of ducks and geese. With a bit of luck, one can even spot a sea eagle. Quiet observers with binoculars and a camera are sure to witness many rare and unforgettable sights.
On the way to the observation tower, the beautiful hedgerow landscape offers stunning views, especially during the spring bloom of the blackthorn. The pollarded black poplars along the path serve both as a rustic backdrop and as a habitat for wood-dwelling animals. A hike around Lake Mechow is also a journey through history, as the lake is located in a former border area. A circular trail around the lake is marked for walkers.
