Camping without a dyke - right on the banks of the Elbe: The Hohes Elbufer campsite is located in an exceptionally natural setting on the banks of the Elbe, right next to the 455-hectare Hohes Elbufer nature reserve and in the UNESCO Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve. Here you can camp closer to the water than almost anywhere else, with sweeping views across the river, plenty of peace and quiet and a landscape that is particularly impressive in the camping season. Whether with a motorhome, caravan or tent - you'll find your favorite spot on the long, green site between the riverbank, meadows and old trees.

Wildlife spotting included: Elbe beavers and bats can be seen at dusk. During the day, kingfishers flash by on the banks. Sunny areas are home to lizards and grass snakes, and with a bit of luck you might even see a white-tailed eagle circling. You can also spot species such as nutria and raccoons.

The region also has something special to offer historically. The Bronze Age burial site of Grünhof-Tesperhude and the ramparts of Ertheneburg Castle are nearby and are exciting destinations for an excursion.

The site is ideal for anyone who wants to experience nature and consciously slow down. Birdsong in the morning, cycling and hiking tours along the banks of the Elbe during the day, sunsets over the water in the evening. Several wash houses and electricity connections provide the necessary infrastructure without losing the natural character. There is no fully accessible toilet, but there is a toilet with shower that can be used with a wheelchair. A slipway is available for smaller boats. WLAN is available.

Please also note the restricted sailing times on the site (daily 7 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 10 pm) and the speed limit of 5 km/h - both of which contribute significantly to the relaxed and safe atmosphere.
