Countless bays, peninsulas and the "Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve" make a visit a unique natural experience. The lake covers an area of 24 km² and is 72 m deep. An ideal spot for anglers. Fishing licenses and rowing boats are available from the groundsman.

The site is open from April to October. There are 110 permanent pitches and 30 day pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. The pitches are on grass, some of which are open or under trees. Six fully equipped caravans for 2 to 4 people are available for hire. Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a lead. There are 4 bathing areas, 3 sanitary facilities are carefully maintained every day.

The Groß Zecher campsite is an ideal starting point for numerous activities and excursions in the surrounding area.
