Wildlife park/animal enclosure
We invite you on a personal voyage of discovery through our wildlife park!
Whether fallow deer, eagle owl, wild boar or perch, you can discover around 30 native animal species in our 22-hectare wildlife park. And with us, discovery is to be understood literally, because we don't see our animals as exhibits. Rather, you have to go on a journey of discovery and are therefore all the more delighted when you get to see an animal. In this way, every visit is an exciting exploration for young and old.

But it's not just in the enclosures or in the cold water aquarium that you can observe animals. Walk with your eyes wide open through some of the most pristine vegetation in Schleswig-Holstein and look out for wood ants, squirrels and greenfinches, for example. Listen to the pond frogs at Grundlosen Kolk - a moorland lake - or discover how the male moor frogs turn blue during the mating season in spring.

If you are here with your children, take a look at our two playgrounds. Your children will be able to let off steam while you prepare the picnic you brought with you or enjoy a snack in our restaurant.

A park for everyone

It is important to us that everyone - regardless of their income - can visit our wildlife park. That's why your visit is free of charge, but not for nothing. As you can imagine, maintaining a wildlife park costs a lot of money. So if you like it here, why not support us from time to time with a donation or membership of our Friends' Association.

The wildlife park is open for you around the clock , every day of the week. So you can enjoy our small but beautiful park alone, with friends or with your family at any time. Please note, however, that you cannot take your dog into the park. Unfortunately, we have had very bad experiences with this. Exceptions to this are, of course, designated assistance dogs.

Natural animal husbandry and biodiversity

Our animals are either bred from other parks or bred foundlings that can no longer be released into the wild. We want them to feel at home with us. Our animals therefore live in spacious enclosures designed to be as natural as possible. However, there are still some old facilities, which we are modernizing step by step in order to meet our standards for the animals.

Don't be surprised if there is a decaying tree trunk in one place or another in the wildlife park. Dead wood is a valuable habitat for many animals, plants, fungi and lichens and is therefore an important part of the forest. By deliberately leaving dead wood lying around, we promote biological diversity. It is not least this diversity that we work with in our environmental education programs.

You can download the map of our wildlife park here. We look forward to seeing you!
