We, the Franke family, have been running what is probably the smallest campsite in the region for over half a century.

Situated on a peninsula

The campsite is located on the Schwalken peninsula opposite Ratzeburg Cathedral directly on Lake Ratzeburg - a paradise for swimming, sailing and fishing.

Smallest campsite in the region

With a total size of just over one hectare, the campsite is one of the smallest in the region. The site is divided into around 50 plots by bushes and trees. The pitches are all between 80 and 400 m² in size and extend in two rows along the shore of Lake Ratzeburg.
For vacationers we offer 6 pitches for caravans or mobile homes. The former tent meadow on the historically significant Schwalkenberg is no longer available for vacationers. We are therefore unable to accommodate groups.
The pitches are equipped with electricity, water and waste water connections.

In the middle of the nature park

Due to its location in the middle of the "Lauenburg Lakes" nature park, the site is a good starting point for cycling and hiking tours or canoe trips. We have a jetty so that you can also bring your own rowing or sailing boat. Boats can also be hired at the lake. A passenger boat service connects Römnitz with Ratzeburg and excursions to the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck, Wismar, Hamburg, Rostock or the state capital of Mecklenburg, Schwerin, are also possible.

From cow pasture to campsite

Originally, cows grazed on the Schwalken peninsula. At the beginning of the 1960s, the cow pasture and orchard were gradually transformed into a campsite. More trees and hedges were planted and the sanitary building was erected in the early 70's. Traces of the old garden can still be found on the campsite today. Some fruit trees from this period are still there.
