A. Paul Weber-Museum

The A. Paul Weber Museum is dedicated to the artist who spent many years in the Duchy of Lauenburg.
The museum is beautifully situated on the island in Lake Ratzeburg. More than 200 hand drawings, woodcuts, oil paintings and, above all, lithographs by the satirical graphic artist A. Paul Weber (1893-1980) are exhibited in 20 rooms, as well as a fully functional lithography workshop with lithography stone storage.

The amusing animal pictures, the book illustrations and the chess player and Eulenspiegel motifs alone are worth a visit. A special attraction, however, are the critical works in which Weber denounces social and political grievances and condemns war and violence. With their understandable language and explosive topicality, the warning drawings always provide food for thought, but also cause for smiles.

There are special exhibitions with graphics by Weber, but also other famous satirical and critical graphic artists.
