Lindenkrug Witzeeze

Disco, village life & tradition

Where history was danced

Lindenkrug Witzeeze –
An eventful history with glamour and glitz

Anyone driving through Witzeeze cannot miss it: the Lindenkrug – a house that has been connected to life in the village for centuries. The roots of the property date back to the 18th century.
Initially run as a farm, the Löding family eventually added a small restaurant, which mainly served sandwiches, sausages and a farmer's breakfast.
In addition to this gastronomic offering, a shop was also run for many years, selling fresh vegetables and meat as well as everything else the local residents needed in their everyday lives. This, together with the many regulars' tables and family celebrations, made the Lindenkrug the centre of social life.

But the Lindenkrug was never just a place to eat and drink – it was also a meeting place. The disco era in the 1970s and 80s was legendary, when the restaurant was enhanced by the addition of the ‘Partybar Witzeeze’.

An agency supported the Löding family in organising the disco evenings, taking care of admission, advertising and the artists. And so it came to pass that Jürgen Drews also performed his famous ‘Ein Bett im Kornfeld’ on stage at the Lindenkrug Witzeeze. Well-known guests such as Lutz Ackermann, Torfrock and Siw Inger, packed dance floors and unforgettable nights made the Lindenkrug famous beyond the region and attracted stars and night owls alike. The disco evenings continued there until 1994. In memory of this, a disco revival party is held every year on 25 December.

Today, things are a little quieter – but the special atmosphere has remained. The many regulars and visitors particularly appreciate the homemade dishes and the culinary promotion days. When it gets cooler in October, they look forward to schnitzel, grilled pork knuckle and pork trotter, and from November onwards to the very popular duck dinner. The Lindenkrug continues to stand for hospitality, tradition and a piece of living local history.
