Landgasthof Meincke –
where people know each other, meet, and enjoy themselves
At Landgasthof Meincke in Kehrsen, it's about more than just good food – it's about feeling welcome. For generations, the restaurant has been an integral part of village life: a place where locals meet for a chat, where regular guests have long since become friends, and where family celebrations are held in a familiar atmosphere.
The aroma of genuine home cooking fills the air – lovingly prepared by hand, without any frills, but with all the more flavour for it. The rustic dining room with its traditional charm invites you to linger, whether for lunch, dinner or simply a cold beer with friends.
Originally a farm, the restaurant was founded in 1950 by Otto II Meincke. Over the years, only drinks and sandwiches were served at first. In the 1980s, the first two or three guest rooms were added and the former living room was converted into a dining room. In 2006, Sylvia Meincke took over the business in its 8th generation and has since continued to invest in the country inn with great dedication. A hall was built for the many family celebrations, the kitchen was expanded and modernised, the terrace was completely redesigned and the number of guest rooms has now grown to 17.
The family cohesion is palpable everywhere. Son Marcel Meincke took over management of the kitchen in 2013 and will also take over management of the entire business in the future. Numerous other family members also help out in the business. Many hands are needed, because at Meinckes, almost everything is made in-house: Sauerfleisch (marinated beef), Grützwurst (sausage), Rouladen (pork rolls), Currywurst (curry sausage) and the fried potatoes that are so popular with guests. Even the croquettes are made by hand by Sylvia Meinckes' sister-in-law. This is something you don't find anywhere else, and the guests appreciate it.
The Landgasthof Meincke is not just an address – it is a piece of home. For everyone who appreciates real food, honest hospitality and togetherness. Guests who come to the Landgasthof Meincke leave with the good feeling that they are always welcome to return.
