Hotel-Restaurant Thormählen

Enjoyment with a view of the canal

A special place on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal

Restaurant Thormählen in Krummesse –
Nine generations of hospitality

Located directly on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, the Thormählen restaurant in Krummesse invites you to enjoy, linger and celebrate – with a view that is as special as the history of the building itself. Take a seat on the newly designed terrace and gaze out over the calm waters of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal while soaking up the character of a place that has been connected to life in the region for generations.
What began as a small pub run by the great-grandparents developed over generations into a real hub of village life. The family business, now in its 9th generation, was not only a place for good food, but also for socialising, dancing and culture. In earlier times, dance events were celebrated in the ballroom, cinema screenings were organised and parties were held that many guests fondly remembered.
The grandparents Karl & Carla Thormählen continued to expand the restaurant, moved the hall to the old hallway, converted the stables into banquet rooms and created even more hotel rooms in the old ballroom, before another hotel extension followed in the 1990s.

Today, the Thormählen Hotel and Restaurant presents itself as a modern, tradition-conscious catering establishment with a festive event hall, stylish banquet rooms, cosy hotel rooms and a cuisine that combines seasonal freshness with regional classics. With great attention to detail, centuries of hospitality tradition and a unique location on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, this is a place where guests can feel comfortable and at home, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Back then...

Benjamin Bockius' great-grandparents transformed a former farm into a pub serving simple meals to villagers and featuring a ballroom for dances, cinema screenings and family celebrations.

The Grandparents...

The grandparents Karl and Carla Thormählen then expanded the restaurant further. The hall was moved to the old hallway. Stables were converted into banquet rooms and the old ballroom was converted into hotel rooms.
