Lecture:
Were the people of Lauenburg good Prussians?
Lecture by Dr. Carsten Walczok, Local History Association
Throughout its long history, the small Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg has repeatedly faced changes. It was directly subordinate to the Empire; it lost that freedom; the House of Hanover arrived, followed by the French, the Danes, and the Prussians. This phase of our past was particularly significant, because the Prussians stayed!
Did the people of Lauenburg perhaps want to become Prussians? How did they become Prussians?
The lecture by Dr. Carsten Walczok (Börnsen) aims to provide a brief insight into the events that transformed the old Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg into the simple district of the Duchy of Lauenburg.
