An occasion to explore the art history of the Duchy of Lauenburg District and, in connection with International Women’s Day on 8 March, to focus specifically on the female artists of the region. This is not about the contemporary art scene, but rather about women who, in a time when it was uncommon for them, managed to create lasting works in the Duchy of Lauenburg District. It also highlights almost forgotten artists, such as those who came to the district as refugees after World War II and stayed either briefly or permanently. Dr. Anke Mührenberg will present some of these artists, providing fascinating insights into the district’s history.
