The local branch of BUND Ratzeburg and the Adult Education Center (VHS) Ratzeburg cordially invite you to a lecture by Ernst Paul Dörfler.

Faithful city blackbirds, tits with a father complex, and polygamous quails – the love lives of birds are diverse and full of surprises. Bird expert Ernst Paul Dörfler presents his new book „Das Liebesleben der Vögel“ (“The Love Life of Birds”) and offers fascinating insights into the relationship worlds of more than fifty native bird species – insights rarely found elsewhere.

Birds are far less monogamous than often assumed, and climate change is even reinforcing this tendency: extreme periods of bad weather appear to encourage partner changes among birds.

Born in 1950 in Kemberg near Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Ernst Paul Dörfler holds a doctorate in eco-chemistry and is the author of several books. He has received numerous awards, including the EuroNatur Prize of the European Natural Heritage Foundation (2010), the Silver Honorary Badge of Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) in 2015, and the Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (December 2025).

Participation is free of charge.
