Buchbar: Geführte Fahrradtour auf den Spuren der Christianisierung

A guided cycle tour to the west of Ratzeburg follows in the footsteps of the Slavs and the German settlers who once advanced eastwards with the Bible in their hands. The route combines significant evidence of brick Romanesque architecture, historical artifacts and a varied landscape. Tales of regional history, humorous anecdotes and expert explanations make the tour an impressive experience.

The route leads to and past the following places:

• Ratzeburg Cathedral

• St. Peter's Church

• St. Georgsberg Church

• Ansverus cross

• Steinburg / Hammer

• Slavic trading center (predecessor of Mölln)

• Church in Berkenthin

• Elbe-Lübeck Canal / Limes Saxonia

• Nicolai Church in Mölln

• Battlefield of the Slavs and Saxons

• Site of the former bishop's castle near Farchau

The shorter version omits the section via Berkenthin and the route to Mölln.

You must bring your own roadworthy bicycle. Participation is at your own risk; in the event of defects or breakdowns, you must organize your own return transport.
