Pilgrimage Walks in the Monastery Triangle:
This year under the motto “Encounters – with one another, with ourselves, and with nature.”

The second pilgrimage encounter tour begins with one group in Ratzeburg and another in Zarrentin.

Zarrentin am Schaalsee is located in the UNESCO Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve and is shaped by the unique lake and moor landscape of the former inner-German border region. The former Cistercian nuns’ monastery there, with its convent church and well-preserved buildings, bears witness to a long spiritual tradition and invites reflection and contemplation. Together with Ratzeburg – known for its bishopric tradition and its cathedral on the island – Zarrentin forms an important center in the historic “monastery triangle” along the former border.

To this day, the different experiences of East and West can still be felt. And yet, through encounters, conversations, and shared journeys, something connecting and new continues to grow. The pilgrimage routes from Ratzeburg and from Zarrentin to Seedorf are intended to make such experiences possible. Being on the move, finding moments of stillness, discovering your own pace, engaging in conversation, experiencing nature intensely, and allowing space for spiritual reflection – all of this is part of the day.
