The royal vegetable
A ducal delight
aparagus
From the end of April to the end of June, it is on the ducal menu: fresh asparagus from the Duchy of Lauenburg. The cultivation area, which is over 100 years old, is also the largest asparagus-growing region in Schleswig-Holstein. The vegetables thrive in the fields of Lauenburg's asparagus farmers, producing the highest quality produce.
This year, Timo I, Duke of Asparagus, officially kicked off the asparagus season on April 16 in Buchholz at the Löding family's asparagus field. We wish all lovers of this royal vegetable a delicious season.
Interesting facts about asparagus
Lauenburg asparagus is almost exclusively sold directly. The fresh spears are available for purchase in farm shops, at many market stalls, and at weekly markets. This means that fresh vegetables are available everywhere from the Elbe to the Baltic Sea, from Hamburg to Lübeck and Kiel, without long transport routes. Here you can be sure of getting the best quality fresh from the field.
